Ban on age limits in employment contracts

Dear Editor, Recently, a joint Oireachtas Committee for social protection community and rural development have made a recommendation to ban age limits in employment contracts. This recommendation will now go back to our national legislators for further debate.

I believe the most appropriate route, would be to test the constitutionality of the above recommendation in the Supreme Court as I am of the humble opinion that employment contracts at the moment that incorporate age limits are unconstitutional, because of their discriminatory nature on the grounds of age.
