More bling for Larry at the provincial indoors

-

The Munster Junior, U23, Senior and Master Indoor Championships was held in Nenagh over 2 days last weekend. Fresh from his national gold victory taking on 3 field events, the high jump his first jump in nearly 3 years, the shot putt and the weight for distance was Larry O’Grady. Again he didn’t disappoint and brought home the bling taking a sliver in the high jump and gold in the shot putt and the weight for distance. Larry also achieved another PB in the weight for distance event throwing over 7 meters and taking the county record in his category.

DUNGARVAN 10 MILE

The race is held in honour of one of Ireland’s greatest athletes, Waterford native John Treacy. His greatest achievement is a silver medal in the marathon in the 1984 Olympics. He still holds the Irish marathon record with a 2:11:23 in Tokyo in 1990.

The course started with a small loop around the town where the race then headed off out into the countryside. After a flat start of about 2km, a steady climb ensued for about 2km followed by a sharp downhill.

This was the pattern of the course with gradual climbs followed by steep downhills for the first 10km after which there is a flat section of about 3km before the final climb before the welcoming descent back into the village for the finish. First home in the purple and white in 62.17 and taking a category win was Willie O’Donoghue followed by Deirdre Bailey in 78 minutes.
