Calls reissued for housing in Knockanore
Calls for the development of more houses in Knockanore were issued again this week as local councillor James Tobin sought an update regarding a council-owned site in the area.
The West Waterford site currently has accommodates four houses. However, Cllr Tobin noted in previous meetings that there is room for another four and that the site is already fully serviced.
At this week’s Dungarvan Lismore District meeting, the Tallow councillor raised the issue again, noting that he had previously spoken on the matter with the Waterford City and County Council Director of Housing, Ivan Grimes, and had received a ‘positive’ response.
“Ivan has told me that he followed up on it, but when you look at other places that have problems in getting land, we have council land ready to go,” Cllr Tobin said.
Mr Grimes, stated that the council would look into the matter, “We did do an assessment of need in the area to see can we make a case to the department of funding for that particular site but I will revert to you”.
