TIME FOR MEN TO ‘GET ACTIVE’ AFTER CANCER

-

Cork ARC Cancer Support House are inviting men with a cancer diagnosis or who have recently finished treatment to join them and get active in March.

The programme creates a space for men to exercise together, and an opportunity to enjoy getting back to better health after treatment and surgery - with a healthy dose of craic included!

Speaking of the programme, General Manager at Cork ARC Cancer Support House, Catriona O’Mahony said: “We see that the emotional support is just as important as the physical supports that we offer… and very often sharing in those feelings can help to reduce the sense of isolation and the impact of the illness”.

Physical activity is important for people living with and beyond cancer - helping to reduce symptoms of anxiety, depression and fatigue, and can improve quality of life.

The Get Active programme will commence on Wednesday, March 9th, and will run for six weeks at 2.30pm. All participants will need to be at least six-weeks post-surgery, and an individual assessment will be carried out prior to joining the programme.
