BALLYLOOBY/CASTLEGRACE SPORTS CAPITAL FUNDING

Ballylooby/Castlegrace are delighted to announce that we have been awarded €117,218 from the Sports Capital Fund, as announced by Minister for Sport, Jack Chambers.

Funding secured is for the development of a Hurling Wall and Astro Turf with fencing on our grounds in Kilroe. We would sincerely like to thank all those who helped with the application.

This is really exciting news for our club and we look forward to getting started. Our goal would not be possible without this grant but we will also need the help of all our members and the whole parish to raise the remaining funding required to complete the project.

Once again, sincere thanks to everyone and all the groups that supported and made this application possible.

COMMEMORATION BOOKLET

On March 19th a unique event will take place in Ballylooby, commemorating the first open armed march of Sean Hogan’s 3rd Tipp Brigade Column. This march took place from Croughatoor to Killanure, during the War of Independence.

We are writing a booklet about these times in our history and would welcome any pictures or local stories (no matter how small they seem) in order to remember and appreciate our local people who supported these brave men (and perhaps neighbours long passed who have no one to remember them).

Please contact Tom on 087-2919222 hennessytom@outlook.com - details to follow. This is a non-political event.

March 18th is a bank holiday, for the first time why not enter a float in Ballylooby’s inaugural St Patrick’s Day parade? See details below. If you are a business, a community organisation, a group that gets together or you just fancy being part of something special why not join us to celebrate on 18th March. Let’s make it a special fun day in the village. You never know, the main man might even visit us.

All float entries to be submitted by March 10th. Further details from Lina 0871334104/ Martina 085-1676111.
