CASTLELYONS COMMUNITY CENTRE - CREATIVE COMPUTING FOR FAMILIES
The aim of OurKidsCode is to help your family enjoy, understand and encourage creative computing. This is done by offering family workshops where parents and children collaborate and benefit from being alongside other families. The training programme delivered and run by T.C.D, strives to inspire parents to see computing as a creative and worthwhile activity for kids and in time to establish a creative computing club.
To facilitate the initial rollout of OurKidsCode in Castlelyons Community Centre (P61DT88), between 4-6 families are needed to take part. Additionally, from these family units or indeed from the Community, TCD would need someone to become a facilitator whose role in time would be to learn the ropes (training will be provided) and take on the lead in establishing a computing club.
Planning meetings with TCD for OurKidsCode are in progress, but families and facilitators willing to participate in the program are required to facilitate the roll out of the program. If you as a family are interested or you have any queries or questions contact Pam McCarthy 087-2729002, Michael Barrett 087-2446597, e-mail castlelyonscommunitycentre@gmail.com or check out our online page Castlelyons Community Centre 1972-2022

‘TRY THE PIPES’
Na Píobairí Uilleann have partnered with Castlelyons Community Centre to offer an ‘Uilleann Piping Programme’.
In order to promote these classes and generate interest, Na Píobairí Uilleann are running a ‘Try The Pipes’ event in Castlelyons Community Centre on Thursday, 24th February from 5.30pm-7.30pm.
On the day, members of the public will have the opportunity to listen to some accomplished uilleann pipers as well as try out the instrument for themselves with the assistance of an experienced player. They can also get further information on the classes and Na Píobairí Uilleann’s Pipes on loan scheme.
All due precautions will be taken with regard to preventing the spread of Covid-19. If you or anyone you know is interested in starting the uilleann pipes – come along!
