School Chickens

-

In June of last year we hatched out some Ancona chicks in an incubator. These are now fully grown and have returned to school to join the hens and coop given to us by Councillor Eddie Ryan, Galbally. Every morning we take turns to check for eggs, give them clean water and food and clean out the nest boxes. Everyone loves having the hens in school, they are so entertaining to watch and it is very rewarding to take care of them and make sure they are healthy and happy.

We have learned so much through raising our own chicks and caring for them as they grow. They have been providing us with a steady supply of eggs. The names we have chosen for them are Brambles, Hawk, Cutie and Galaxy.
