Fish smells

-

Dear Editor,

Watching the Oireachtas channel on television it brought me back to my childhood. I used to ride ponies for a man called Tommy Connors. His ponies were much better than I was but I got an opportunity.

Tommy sold fish on the corner of the street on a Friday. He always said “lovely fresh fish today”.

When watching Leaders Questions, Micheal Martin and Leo Varadkar use the same expression when dealing with the opposition to the electorate. There is no smell off Fianna Fail or Fine Gael – “lovely fresh fish to sell” is all we are ever told. I got opportunity but I realise fish smells and if it doesn’t taste good, don’t eat it.

Mise le meas, Gerry Stack, Chapel Street, Lismore, Co. Waterford.
