On Sunday morning we had a good turnout of players for our 4Ball Competitio­n (two scores to count at holes 1 and 2), we were lucky with the weather, the rain cleared before we started, we were back in the club-house enjoying the hot ‘cuppa’ before the rain came down again. It was a good competitio­n for Margaret Kiely she teamed up with Kevin Doyle to win 1st. Nett on a score of 42, and with Michael O’Keeffe to win 1st. Gross on a score of 57. Patsy O’Mahony and Michael O’Meara were 2nd. Nett winners on a score of 43.

Tuesday afternoon’s 4Ball competitio­n winners were John Hogan and Maria Roche on a Nett score of 361/2. Gerry Burke and Catherine Morrissey were 1st. Gross winners (on the back 9) on score of 58. Pat Houlihan and Tom Kenneally were 2nd. Nett winners ( on the back 3) on a score of 431/2. Tom Shanahan and Liam Roche were 2nd. Gross winners (on the back 3) on a score of 58. Thursday afternoon’s 4Ball competitio­n (two scores to count on Holes 1 and 2) winners were Christy Murphy and Margaret Kiely on a Nett score of 461/2. Seamus O’Connell and Noel Scannell were Gross winners (on the back 9) on a score of 60. Derry Walsh and Sheila Hegarty were 2nd Nett winners on a score of 471/2.

Tuesday and Thursday afternoon’s competitio­ns tee off 2.30pm sharp. Sunday morning competiton tee off 10.15am sharp.

CLUB AGM

The A.G.M. of our Club took place in the club-house on Monday night. We had a good turnout of interested members. Club Chairman Michael Gowen welcomed everyone to the meeting. Club Secretary Marian Tobin got the ball rolling by giving a very comprehens­ive report of the last A.G.M. Treasurer Liz O’Rahilly presented a detailed statement of the Club’s financial position covering all running costs, showing the Club to be in a good financial position. Competitio­n secretary John McCarthy reported on the number of competitio­ns played which was down due to Covid-19, the number of players who played in the Club League. John congratula­ted Catherine Morrissey and Gerry Burke on winning their respective Captain’s Prizes. Club Registrar Seán Howard gave the number of players who were registered for the year. He thanked the handicap committee for their help during the year. Chairman Michael Gowen thanked all the officers and members for their help and support during his term as chairman. It was a difficult time due to Covid-19,

he thanked all for adhering to Covid restrictio­ns. Michael thanked members who sponsored competitio­ns and all who worked on the course, our Tús worker Jason Geaney, and Eileen Leonard, the lady behind the camera for her commitment.

Seán Hegarty took the chair for the election of officers, which are as follows; president, Bob Burke; chairman, Tom Shanahan; vice chairman, Michael Gowen; secretary; Marian Tobin; assistant secretary, Sheila Hegarty; treasurer, Liz O’Rahilly; assistant treasurer, Breda O’Keeffe; competitio­n secretary, John McCarthy; assistant competitio­n secretary, John Hogan; PRO, Michael O’Keeffe; assistant PRO, Jerry Greehy; registrar, Seán Howard. Delegates to county board...Denis Doherty, Derry Walsh and Jerry Greehy. Ladies and gents captains to be appointed.

It was decided at the A.G.M. that the following fees will apply for the year. Family €95. Adult €65. O.A.P €50. O.A.P Couple €80. Associate member Adult €65. Associate member O.A.P €50. Associate member Couple O.A.P €80. Student €35, juvenile €25. Green fees adult €5 juvenile. €2. Competitio­n fees remain the same as 2021, €4.

On taking the Chair Tom said he was honoured to be elected chairman, saying it was great to see people from outside the Kilworth area joining the Club. He thanked Michael Gowen for all he did for the club while he was Chairman. Tom has a real passion for and knowledge of the game of pitch and putt. We wish Tom and his fellow officers and committee every success for the year ahead.
