“The Extreme End of Volunteerism” were the words used by John Cregan, (chairman of the Limerick County Board) to describe Patsy English’s volunteer work with Galtee Gales GAA Club. He was speaking at the recent GAA President’s Award held the Galtee Gales clubhouse where Patsy was awarded the prestigious Gradaim an Uachtaráin 2022 for his outstanding commitment and long service across the club and county network for over half a century. Patsy is the well deserving 2022 Munster recipient.

While still playing junior football Patsy got involved with the club’s administration when he took on the role of chairman of the club in 1979. From that point on he never looked back, taking up numerous rolls within the club over subsequent years which included serving as the clubs South GAA delegate for 43 years, 20 years as chairman, 12 years as club secretary 3 years as vice- chairman. Patrick is currently the club’s Irish officer a valued bord member of Club na nÓg where his experience, advice, and encyclopaedic knowledge of the GAA rules and regulations is a huge support and benefit to the day to day running of the club.

The Galtee Gaels Club na nÓg would like to congratulate Patsy on this esteemed and well-deserved award. Not alone is this a great accomplishment and proud moment for Patsy and his family, it is great recognition for volunteerism in a small club nestled away in the corner of the county proving yet again that the club can punch well above its weight both on and off the playing field.
