JUVENILE MUNSTER CHAMPIONSHIPS RETURN

-

After a break of two years, the Juvenile Munster Championships took place in Nenagh Olympic AC indoor stadium last weekend. Athletes from U13-U19 took part in a range of events, sprint, sprint hurdles, long jump, high jump and walks.

It was girl power for Fanahan McSweeney AC with Cara Burke, Katie Lenihan, Louise Mullins, Orla MacCallum and Vanessa Burke making the trip to Tipp. Louise Mullins ran a fantastic 60m sprint to medal bronze in the morning and came second in the sprint hurdles by 0.01 of a second in the afternoon. Orla MacCallum came home with silver in the high jump after a fantastic competition. Both girls had achieved great success in these events in the 2021 outdoors and it was great to see them return to their winning form.

Katie showed that her training was on form in the high jump achieving a pb. She was unlucky in the hurdles having injured her leg on the first jump, but finished the race. Vanessa did well in the high jump and enjoyed the day. Cara had two great long jumps but the competition was fierce. The day was well organised and a huge congratulations to Munster Athletics for a safe well run event.
