RESULTS SATURDAY, FEBRUARY 12TH U12 LEAGUE Mogeely 9 Ballybridge United 0

League leaders Mogeely were very comfortable winners against Ballybridge United. Max Smiddy top scored with four goals while Conor Ronayne hit two with Cillian Harrington, Dillon Murphy and Eoin Brennan also found the net. The home side led 6-0 at the interval and like Clashmore Ramblers, Ballybridge will be looking forward to the split where they will be up against similar teams as themselves.

Cappoquin/Railway v Ardmore

Postponed due to Covid in Cappoquin.

Lismore 1 Kilworth Celtic 2

This was a really tough battle in testing conditions at the Castle Farm grounds where both sides played themselves to a standstill. There was little to choose between the teams throughout as play swung from end to end with both sides scoring in the opening half as Shane Landers gave Lismore the lead. However Kilworth drew level with Sean Riordan getting the equaliser to leave it 1-1 at half-time.

Both sides were creating chances but of a heavy pitch is was hard to get a strike off. It looked as if a draw might be the result but with time running out Kilworth were awarded a penalty that Luke Browne scored to give Kilworth three priceless points. It was hard luck on Lismore who turned in a great display and they are still very much in the running for the title.

Inch United v Cappoquin/Railway

Postponed due to Covid in Cappoquin.

Ballyduff Rovers 3 Ardmore 0

Goals at the beginning of either half helped Ballyduff to a win over an Ardmore side that were without a few regulars. The home side were in front inside two minutes as Ardmore conceded a corner kick. A perfect delivery was glanced in to the roof of the net by Jamie Alcock. The home side doubled their advantage in the 6th minute when a strike from James Geary took a wicked deflection to wrongfoot the keeper who had the shot covered. From there to the break it was even enough with John O’Brien in the Ardmore goal saving well on two occasions.

In the second half, Ardmore had changed the keeper with Sean Flavin going into goal. From another corner kick the ball was knocked from the hands of the keeper and bundled across the line by Dion van De Ven to put the home side three up. Ardmore tried hard with Seamus Twomey coming close while Killian Hagan also had a good shot touched over. In the end the home side were comfortable winners and keep the pressure on the leaders.

Clashmore Ramblers 0 Brideview 4

This was a comfortable enough win for Brideview United with Barra Alian helping himself to a hat-trick while Paul Hegarty got the other goal. Brideview are still going strong in what is a very tight race for the title, while Clashmore Ramblers will set their sights on the lower division when the league splits after round 1.

U14 LEAGUE Clashmore 0 Lismore 3

Clashmore conceded a walkover in this contest.

Mogeely 3 Cappoquin/Railway 3

A fine game of ball in this U14 contest with Cappoquin/ Railway coming away with a share of the spoils against League leaders Mogeely at Railway Park. Indeed it looked as if the visitors would bag all three points as goals from Keelan Dunne, Sean Og Costin and Hugo Quan gave the visitors a 3-0 half time lead. However Mogeely are not in tip spot for nothing and they fought back well with a Alex McSweeney brace and an equaliser from Finn Connaughton ensuring that the game ended all square.

Brideview United 9 played, 25 points; Ballyduff Rovers 9-22; Clashmore Ramblers 9-15; Lismore 9-13.

success if they were to win their remaining games as well.
