Successful Sports Capital Grant application
Twelve months ago, Seamus Moran, Club Hon. Secretary 2020/2021 and Liam Wall, Club Hon Treasurer 2020/2022 worked tirelessly in applying for the 2021 Sports Capital Grant to specifically address improvements to the driving range and course fairways of our golf club.
We are delighted to advise you that Cahir Park Golf Club has been awarded €39,400 under the grant scheme announced in the last week. We express our gratitude and appreciation to Seamus and Liam and to Kate Sheehy, office administrator and to all who helped in realising this wonderful achievement. This is a lovely start to our new golfing year and we look forward to commencing the designated work soon.

Race to Paddy’s Day Open Singles Stableford: Monday, February 1 – Sunday, February 6. Category 1 winner: Paul Kennedy (8) 33pts. 2nd place: Brian Frazer (6) 32pts. Category 2 winner: David Walsh (14) 30pts (B9). 2nd place: Kenneth Anderson (13) 30pts. Category 3 winner: John Morrissey (17) 35pts. 2nd place: Thomas Regan (14) 34pts.
LADIES’ NEWS
The ladies enjoyed a 12-hole Champagne Scramble on 8th February with the winning team of Imelda Fitzpatrick, Pauline Mulcahy and Mag Tobin returning a very strong result of 64 pts. The weekly ongoing competition is being very well supported. Results of the last two weeks are as follows: 31st January to 6th February (14 hole S/F). Winner: Breda Hickey (26) 35 pts, 2nd: Kathleen Lonergan (16) 33pts, 3rd: Margaret Gill, (20) 32 pts, 4th Claire Neligan (32) 30pts. 7th to 13th February (12 Hole S/F) Winner: Lisa Blackett (24) 28pts, 2nd: Breda Hickey (22) 26pts, 3rd: Kathleen Alton (13) 23pts. Great results. Congratulations to all the ladies.
SPRING LEAGUE MATCHPLAY
The Curtains and Blinds sponsored Spring League has commenced. Weather is impeding play a little, however the ever-resilient ladies are on the course when conditions allow and enjoying matchplay.
CLUBHOUSE BAR AND RESTAURANT
