Work continues for Lismore Tidy Towns

-

The past few weeks has seen refurbishment work starting on Lismore House Hotel. This is work that locals have been looking forward to for a very long time and Lismore Tidy Towns wishes the investors involved good luck and future success in their venture.

Workwise Jim Noonan continues to carry out work on behalf of Lismore Tidy Towns. Viburnum growing on the raised beds at Church Lane and on the Tallow Road have been pruned, the beds weeded and tidied. The tidy towns work team had its first work outing for 2022 on Thursday last when the long bed running alongside the hotel was weeded and perennials cut back.

As mentioned a few weeks ago the community litter roster will start mid March. However litter during the week on Main St. and West Street is a problem. We ask anybody reading those notes who lives or runs a business on those streets to check for litter outside their property and footpath kerbing and to pick up and sweep.

A lot of work was carried out creating awareness on dog fouling in public space during 2021 and for a while there was an improvement. However in recent weeks many people using local walking spaces have commented on the amount of dog waste on Lismore’s footpaths. So blame has to be placed on some dog owners/walkers who do not care about the consequences of their dog’s actions on the general public.
