Two chimney fires highlight importance of regular cleaning
Members of the public are being reminded again to make sure they have their chimneys cleaned regularly, as Mitchelstown Fire Brigade were called to two chimney fires recently.
In the last month, the unit were called to a chimney fire in Ballyporeen, along with another in Kildorrery only days after - both were extinguished and thankfully no major damage or injury resulted.
Resultingly, the local brigade issue a reminder to householders of the importance of regularly cleaning your chimney.
SMOKE ALARMS AVAILABLE
Mitchelstown Fire Brigade, in conjunction with Mitchelstown Community Council, also now have a limited number of smoke alarms for householders, free of charge. Application forms can be obtained at Forrest Hall from 10.30am to 1pm, Monday to Friday.
