March commemoration for Arthur Mulcahy
Many commemorations last year were curtailed or cancelled altogether due to Covid restrictions. The commemoration to mark the centenary death of Arthur Mulcahy, shot by British forces on March 22nd, 1921, was confined to a handful of close family members.
This year, the family are organising a relatively informal tribute, open to the public.
There will be a wreath laying ceremony at 11am on Sunday morning, March 20th at the grave in Tallow. This will be followed by a short ceremony at 12 o’clock at the cross on the Tallow/ Fermoy road, which marks the location of his execution. Speaker on the day will be Art Supple (nephew).
It must be stressed that this event is organised by the family of Arthur Mulcahy and there will be no party political involvement, so please no banners apart from national or provincial flags, etc. Further details in the coming weeks.
