Outdoor furniture to stay in West Waterford
It is intended that outdoor furniture will remain in place in West Waterford.
The next couple of months, according to council officials, is to see the preparation for the return of outdoor furniture and outdoor dining in towns across West Waterford, similar to the previous year, despite the lifting of Covid-19 restrictions.
West Waterford councillor, Pat Nugent, recently questioned the need for outdoor furniture, with consideration to easing restrictions. The councillor asked whether the furniture would remain in towns ‘long term’, during a recent meeting of the Dungarvan Lismore District.
Director of Corporate Services, Culture, Human Resources and Information Systems, Kieran Kehoe, stated that the funding for the outdoor furniture was received for an all-year-round offering.
“The intention at the moment is that it wouldn’t be taken in and taken out on that frequent a basis,” Mr Kehoe said.
He noted that the initiative has been successful thus far and that over the next couple of months, the council will be preparing a proposal for the upcoming summer in relation to outdoor dining.
