Weir planning application due shortly
Plans for Fermoy Weir Remediation and Fish Bypass are due to be with An Bord Pleanala within the next few weeks, according to community activists Helen White and William Hughes.
Planning documentation has been shared with Cork County Council by the consultants and the draft planning pack is currently being ‘cross checked’ by Cork County Council.
The planning documentation has been compiled and the submission to An Bord Pleanala is currently being collated.
“The application will be submitted in the next couple of weeks and it will be in the hands of the Bord at that stage,” Ms White and Mr Hughes said.
“Cork County Council will keep the pressure on for an early assessment and decision but, ultimately, the Bord determines the timeframes and prioritisation of applications that are before it.
“I presume with Covid there are backlogs to be sorted but let’s hope that a decision will be made so that works may progress and the Fermoy weir is restored to its former glory for the people of Fermoy and surrounds”.
