-

At the time, when these notes will be published, it will be down to the last few days for the Cork GAA Rebel Bounty draw, to register your interest and join the Rebel Bounty draw for 2022. The closing date, for new members is now March 1st, 1pm.

Tickets cost €100, 12 draws for the price of 10, with 360 prizes on offer to the value of €500,000!

Killavullen GAA, to promote the Rebel Bounty Draw, is coupling this ticket cost of €100 with membership of their revamped gym, which is very well furnished with the latest free weights and equipment for any gym enthusiast. Contact any committee member for further details, or go online, to the Cork GAA website, and follow the instructions to participate in the draw, and also support Killavullen GAA Club.

Proceeds from the draw in 2021, were used to clean up and provide new drainage at the entrance to the field, to provide additional lighting in the 2nd field, and to clean up the bank at the bottom of the main field.

Each of those projects complement the GAA facility in Killavullen and it is hoped that a strong endorsement of our efforts will be forthcoming for the draw in 2022, so that further very necessary work, can be completed.

Killavullen GAA provides facilities to enable Gaelic games for both boys and girls, men and women to be played in Killavullen. We have a growing population that utilize our pitch, AstroTurf and now gym. We also lend our facilities to both

National schools of the parish, Killavullen and Ballygown, and to any community group within the parish or the greater North Cork area that wish to utilize our amenities. With Killavullen being a small village, facilities for sports and recreation are limited, but we earnestly try to unite our parish around our facilities. We also, in cooperation with Cork County Council will provide a trailhead destination for the nearby walks, in the Nagle Mountains and Nano Nagle Centre.

The cost of entry for the revamped gym will be kept deliberately low, so that persons of low income can join (€100). Already, and the gym is not quite finished yet, we have had interest in an Over 60’s groups, wishing to utilize, under instruction. Here to now, it would be hard to get those people to engage with our club. It will be accessed controlled, to allow independent entry. Players, both male and female will be able to use the gym, but so many more people in our community as well. This is all part of our long term plan to be more inclusive, reaching out beyond our playing cohort, to have Killavullen GAA facilities become a focal point in our community.

DEATH OF BILLY O’CALLAGHAN IN LEEDS

Billy O’Callaghan, formerly of Barrett Terrace, Killavullen has died in Leeds, and we would like to send our condolences to his family, his wife Mary, also of Killavullen, his children Yvonne and John, and his family, both in Killavullen and further afield. Jovial and funny, Billy was often accompanied in his visits home by his brother Sean, who sadly pre-deceased him, in April 2020. In their company, time would fly.
