Eunice strikes!
Storm Eunice moved in this past week and dislodged us all from the course. From Thursday onwards, the course was closed due to the adverse weather conditions. We have had a reasonable winter to date, with no significant closures, but our luck ran out for round 2 of the Corbett Court sponsored Spring League. Word from course management is optimistic that we will be up and running for round 2 this weekend. Our first week saw a good turnout. Updated course information is available by ringing 025-24231.
LADIES CLUB NOTES
The Ladies committee for 2022 has been ratified at a meeting of the ladies club on Sunday.
Kate Biggane, the outgoing Ladies captain, handed over the baton to Mairead Perry, the incoming ladies captain for 2022. The 2022 committee is as follows: Mairead Perry, Lady Captain; Kate Biggane, Ex-Officio; Rosarii Harrington, Hon Secretary; Olivia O’Meara, Competition Secretary; Catherine Kavanagh, Handicap Secretary; Aileen Dennehy, Treasurer; Mag Slattery, Committee member PRO; Marie Lineen, Committee member; Aisling Lineen, Committee member Junior Convenor (Ladies).
We are looking forward to another successful year for the ladies club. New lady members welcome for 2022. This week’s competition on Sat, Sun and Wed 26, 27 and 2nd March is sponsored by Bunty Flynn.
SEANÓIRÍ
Weather did not permit our outing this week. Hopefully we will be on the course again for Thursday 24th. The AGM is deferred to Thursday, 3rd March.
GOLF SOCIETIES
We are currently formalising the events calendar for the year. We have already taken a number of bookings for 2022. To avoid disappointment for the next year we advise golf society secretaries to contact Dolores on 02524072 during morning office hours or e-mail to info@mitchelstowngolf[1] golf.com to reserve your preferred date and time. We offer excellent catering facilities at the club and we are geared up better than ever to look after the needs of societies both on and off the course. If our club is on your list of “must play” courses for the year (as it should be!) we look forward to hearing from you ASAP.
WE’RE OPEN FOR MEMBERSHIP
Our membership grew by 121 last year. Membership applications for this year are already in double digits and we are getting close to capacity. 2021 was another very successful year for the club and the future is looking particularly bright. We remain open for new members at present and we welcome those who have already joined this year. We look forward to hearing from anyone who wishes to consider taking up golf but be aware that we are close to capacity due to the recent influx of applications.
