Goalkeeping course continues

-

Goalkeeping course continues on Wednesday nights at the Ballybridge club complex in Ballymacoda from 7-8 pm with Finn O’Sullivan doing the coaching.

The weekend was a washout as storm Eunice ensured that all games on Saturday and Sunday were postponed. While it was a late call by the League committee it was the correct call as high winds and at times heavy rain would have made life very difficult if the games had to go on. The committee will now meet early in the week to review fixtures, while a full delegate meeting will be held next week.

U12 LEAGUE Cappoquin/Railway 3 Ardmore 1

This was the only fixture played last week where second placed Cappoquin got the better of Ardmore in a fine contest. Cappoquin got off the mark early when Ted Lynch shot bet the keeper in the slippy conditions. The home side doubled their tally in the 10th minute with Stephen Lacey finishing off a good move with a well struck shot. Cappoquin/Railway were also strong in defence with Ardmore finding it hard to get shots on target as they trailed 2-0 at the break.

A few positional switches saw Ardmore come more into the game and they were right back in it when Logan Griffin fired home after ten minutes. Ardmore came close to drawing level on a few occasions, but as often happen when you commit to all out attack you can get caught on the break with Shane Kiely outpacing the defence to score a third goal for Cappoquin./Railway to give them all three points after a very entertaining match. Cappoquin/ Railway will now be in the top half, when the league splits while Ardmore will be in the second division having played all their games.
