SEMRA callout to Galtymore Cross

- MARIAN ROCHE

The South East Mountain Rescue Association (SEMRA) were called out to help some lost walkers on Galymore last Saturday.

Gardaí contacted the volunteer rescuers shortly after 3pm, where they made their way to the victims.

According to SEMRA, the walkers had taken shelter at rocks beneath the cross, at the northern side of Galtymore and were ‘extremely cold’. Conditions were wet and windy on Saturday, with low visibility. The walkers had approached the peak from King’s Yard via Knocknagalty and got disorientated.

SEMRA escorted the walkers down to a waiting SEMRA 4x4 at the top of the Black Road, and they were dropped safely back to their vehicles safely.
