‘Women Supporting Women’

- an International Women’s Day event

- KATIE GLAVIN

‘Women Supporting Women’, a community event in Fermoy Community Youth Centre on Ashe Quay, is set to take place on Tuesday, March 8, on International Women’s Day.

A global event celebrated annually on March 8, International Women’s Day recognises women’s incredible achievements, raising awareness and encouraging others to advocate for gender inequality. While any day makes for a great opportunity to celebrate the women in our lives, this special day gives us another reason to do that.

Fermoy Community Health Project will be hosting ‘Women Supporting Women’, to give women an opportunity to be together and participate in a fun movement session by Shirley Lankford.

This will be followed by an informative talk by Marion Condon and a donation drop point for The Hygiene Bank, Cork will also be in place.

The first part of the event is ‘Step It Up’, a fun and games movement session which takes place from 12.30-1.30pm, designed to be suitable for all fitness levels.

Join Shirley Lankford, health and fitness instructor for a fun-filled hour - we promise you won’t regret gifting yourself this hour! Please book in advance by calling Jacinta on 085 8742320.

The second part of the event is an informative talk at 2pm by Marion Condon, a volunteer with The Hygiene Bank, Cork. Marion will talk about her work as a volunteer with the group.

The Hygiene Bank is a grassroots community initiative that collects and donates hygiene, personal care and household cleaning products to those living in need in Cork, through their links with charity partners.

A drop point of new, unused and in-date hygiene and personal grooming products will be in place from 12.30–2.30pm. All donations will be given to The Hygiene Bank, who will distribute them to those living in need in Cork.

Refreshments will be available. Please contact Jacinta McCormack, Fermoy Community Health Worker for further information on 085 8742320.
