Great craic at the semi-finals

- Article by Aisling Walsh Glanmire PRO

The last fortnight has been a very busy one for Glanmire Macra. Saturday the 19th saw our own capers cast take to the stage as we made the semi-finals. With six teams performing on the night, the competition was stiff. Six clubs put on six amazing shows. Unfortunately it wasn’t our night as Banteer, Donoughmore and Barryroe made it to the national finals. Our cast had great craic in the process though. Best of luck to all performing in the national semi-finals this Saturday.

This week saw our Impromptu debating team put on a strong performance as they took on UCC. Mike, Gillian and Declan’s experience shone through as they claimed first place and our own Mike also claimed best debator. We are looking forward to the next round.

Our senior debaters also had success as they won over Awbeg last week and our own Karen got best debator. The next round saw them take on Clonakilty. Clonakilty were strong and took the prize but we are as always extremely proud of our senior debaters.

Our weekly sports night continues every Tuesday night at 9.15pm in Upper Glanmire Sports Hall. New members play for free on their first night. All welcome. Don’t forget to keep an eye online to see what’s coming up.
