Onwards and upwards with restrictio­ns lifted

It has been a relatively quiet period for Post 25, with the restrictio­ns being lifted now, hopefully we can get back to some bit of normality with our Actives. Please note that our office in Fitzgerald Place, is open 5 days a week Mon-Fri 10.00-13.00 hrs.

AGM

The AGM of our post was held in the office, at 15.00 hrs on Thursday 24. The attendance was small, but the general consent of those who attended ,was that it was a good positive meeting. Tommy our chairman opened the meeting with sympathies, passed on to those who lost Loved Ones and relatives since last meeting, He then continued on to say he was hopeful for this year with regards events. Keep an eye out here for upcoming events.

John O’Mahony our secretary then gave minutes of last AGM in 2019, which was followed by a report on 2020, 2021. Sean Pierce our Treasurer gave us the financial report, All Reports were adopted and carried.

Then followed reports by PJ and Martin as regards PRO and Welfare. Also, Ken Kelly our developmen­t officer spoke about up comings plans. The Chairman then moved on to the elections of officers and committee for coming year. He asked was there anyone interested in taking up a position as there was no one came forward, there was a proposal put to the meeting that all officers and committee remain in situ for the coming year, this was seconded and carried That finished the AGM.

EASTER RAFFLE

Our Easter raffle will be held on Saturday, April 16th. This is one of the main fundraiser­s in the upkeep of our office in Fitzgerald Place. All members should have got their tickets by now to sell, if not contact the office. Monies and counterfoi­ls to be returned by 15th April, 2022.

KILWORTH 100 YEAR

On 4th Feb., 2022, we took part in a ceremony to mark the 100th anniversar­y of the taking over the camp from British Army, This was well attended by serving Army personnel, IUNVA, families of people who had worked there down through the years, school children from Curraghaga­lla and Kilworth Nnational Schools. There was also a lecture by Tom O’Neill, about War of Independen­ce and Civil War, with particular emphasis on the role the camp, played in both wars.

ST. PATRICK’S DAY PARADE 2022

After an absence of 2 years the St Patrick’s, Day parade is back on in Fermoy We are asked to assemble at 10.45am at Texaco Garage, Cork Road, hopefully there will be a good turnout and it stays dry. The office will be opened for tea etc, after parade, notificati­on to follow as regards next meeting.
