GREAT START FOR BOTH TEAMS

-

Last Sunday saw our intermediate and senior teams travel to Bishopstown to play in the Cork leagues. Fermoy inters were 2-1 up after doubles against a good Raffeen Creek side. Wins for JJ and Danny, Jimmy and Robbie with Keith and Gavin just losing.

Heading into the singles, Fermoy won 3 and drew 1 out of 6 to win 5.5 to 3.5. Wins from JJ, Jimmy and Keith and a draw from Robbie. Danny and Mick were unlucky. Well done to them. Their next game is on Sunday, March 13. They will play Bishopstown in Collins. Best of luck.

Our senior team played a top class side St Annes. After the doubles, it was 1.5 each. Wins for Gary/ Paudi, a draw for Daniel/Decky and a loss for John/Daithi. So heading into the singles we knew it would be hard with them having such a strong team. Fermoy gave it their all coming out on top winning 3 and 1 draw in the singles giving Fermoy a 5-4 win. Wins for Decky, John and JJ. Gary got a draw and Daithi and Paudi lost. Well done on a great win.

Next game takes place on Sunday, March 6 against Douglas in ESB at 10.30. Best of luck and support would be appreciated.

LADIES REPORT

On Tuesday, February 22 the ladies game was cancelled in respect of the sad passing of our esteemed member Tommy Egan. On Wednesday morning the members of the Pitch and Putt Club formed a guard of honour outside St Patrick’s Church for Tommy’s funeral mass and final farewell. There was a very large attendance, which was testament to the kind, caring and social person Tommy was. He was a great friend to all in the club and he will be very sadly missed.

The club offers their sincere sympathy to his wife Kathleen and all his family and our thoughts and prayers are with you all at this sad time. Details of upcoming competitions are posted on the notice board.
