WW/EC JUNIOR SOCCER LEAGUE

-

This Friday night Turner’s Cross should be rocking for the local derby v Cobh Ramblers and with both teams drawing last Friday night, we should have the proverbial cracker.

Cobh Ramblers after their last minute defeat to Wexford the previous week, had Treaty Utd as visitors to St. Colman’s Park on Friday night last. Having seen Treaty hammer Wexford in the opening league game, we felt the Limerick side would be too strong.

The opening half was scrappy and the first chance fell to former Ramblers player Lee Devitt, but he shot wide. Just before the break O Brien-Whitmarsh crossed for Danny O’Connell but his effort was deflected past the post.

The second half was similar with Treaty’s McNamara hitting a terrific shot from 25 yards, and a free from Pierce Phillips just dropped over the bar. We had two late efforts in the closing minutes with Treaty ‘keeper Jack Brady making a double save from John Kavanagh and then O’Connell, while at the other end McNamara’s last minute effort was cleared off the line. So, a draw sees Cobh register a point on the league table and Treaty now with four points, three behind Waterford and a game less played.

This Friday night, Cobh make the short trip to Turner’s Cross to play neighbours Cork City.
