Fermoy Active Retirement meeting

Fermoy Active Retirement next group meeting is on Wed, 16th March at 2.30pm in Fermoy Youth Centre. Colette Walshe from Atlantia Food trials based in Blackpool will speak on the natural approaches to health and disease prevention, volunteers are always needed for the trials, so you can register your interest at the group meeting.

Our last get-together was a very joyous occasion, Willie Collins one man band plus a number of our members, namely Carmel O’Connor, Liz McCarthy, John O’Mahony, Mabel Scanlan and Helen Lyons all contribute­d in no small way to make the afternoon a memorable won indeed. Mouth watering food was supplied by Janny’s Cafe many thanks to all. Many thanks also to Pat Morrisey and the Fermoy Credit Union for the very generous sponsorshi­p.

A number of our members enjoyed an evening out at the Wild Goose in Mallow, had a beautiful dinner and a sing-along on our return journey, a wonderful evening out and to move outside our comfort zone again.

Our choir are re grouping once again. First practice in Blue Nuns Convent on Tues, 8th March, 12-1pm, with Mairead Scannell as organist. New members always needed, do sign up and give it a try. Computer classes beginning on Wed, 9th March, 5pm-7pm, 4-5wks duration, a few spaces still available. Classes taking place in ETB, Further Education and Training Centre (former Vocational School. Kurling, next session Fri, 11th March at 10.30am in Fermoy Youth Centre, just €2 incl. tea and nibbles, do come along and play. Our last session was very competitiv­e with Fermoy (A) emerging as worthy winners. St Patricks Day parade is taking place once again, we will be walking as a group displaying our activity banners, details at next meeting, (16h March). Membership 2022 fee now due €20 pp/ €30 per couple. We had a full house and welcomed some new members to our last meeting. A.R.A.

A.G.M. is taking place on Wed, 25th May in Trim Co. Meath. Mini break to Limerick has been cancelled owing to lack of interest. Plenty of activities for the year ahead, so do come and join in.
