Promotion of INDIE22 begins in earnest

- JOHN AHERN

M i t c h e l s t own Music Festival INDIE22 (Indiependence) runs over 3 days - July 29th, 30th and 31st. Having been ‘away’ for a couple of years, the event is back with a bang with promotion and ticket sales now a priority.

SHANE AND FRIENDS ‘POP’ INTO WALSH’S

Festival supremo, Shane Dunne and fellow committee members were in Walsh’s Bar, Mitchelstown last Saturday morning to cater for ‘early birds’. Encouragingly, business was brisk at the popup ticket kiosk as music fans prepared for what’s expected to be a long hot summer of great outdoor entertainment.

With regard to public reaction, Shane said things were looking good.

“It’s all systems go, we’ve a spectacular line up with the possibility of more acts being added, this morning is an important springboard for us and we expect to get some real traction in the weeks and months ahead,” he said.

FROM MODEST BEGINNINGS

Started in more hope than expectation, Mitchelstown Music Festival (Indiependence) very quickly established itself as a ‘not to be missed’ date on the Irish music calendar. Proximity to the town centre, good organisation and a capacity to cater for different age groups have been huge positives for the festival.

When you are able to secure some of the biggest names in the industry, while also accommodating exciting young talent, it all makes for a winning formula.

INTERNATIONAL, NATIONAL AND LOCAL

A key factor in the enduring appeal of INDIE is its strong links with the town and its ‘support local’ ethos. According to Shane Dunne, there will be no deviation from this course.

“INDIE22 is about exposing music lovers to a unique musical experience in the heart of Mitchelstown, this has been fundamental to our success to date,” he says.
