Christy steaming ahead with bird book

- JOHN AHERN

Best selling author, Christy Dorgan is on the crest of a wave thanks to the success of his book ‘Irish Birds, Their Nests & Eggs’. Having hit the 20,000 sales mark, this publication continues to grow in popularity.

More recent additions have included images of exotic animals, fish, insects, images of the Wild West, passport photographs and Google Earth maps. Always on the lookout for novel images for his book, Christy has unearthed a rare print from the 1920s promoting the once all powerful, Great Southern Railways. Containing the headline ‘ Ireland - For Bracing Air & Glorious Sunshine’ (not always the case!), the poster features a scene from Glengarriff in County County. Keen to put his own stamp on things before including it in the book, Christy has superimposed a collection of birds and other wildlife.

While ‘ The Great Southern’ has been consigned to history, it’s full steam ahead for Fermoy native, Christy Dorgan and his ‘Bird Book’.
