JAMES STREET CAR PARK ACCESS TO BE CHANGED
James Street car park in Mitchelstown will be ‘access all areas’ very shortly, as the road layout is to be changed so that drivers can enter from either direction, up or down James Street.
With the wheels now turning on the Georgian Quarter upgrades in Mitchelstown, fears about the potential loss of parking is somewhat allayed by the news.
County engineer Brendan O’Gorman, speaking previously for Cork County Council, said the plans made ‘absolute sense’. Cllr Deirdre O’Brien had pushed for the changes, and said this week that, after consultation with residents and some back-and-forth, she was very welcoming of the change.
No timeline was given, but the work is not expected to be significant as it is assumed to only involve the changing of some road markings and possible increased signage.
