Objections made against accessibility at Fanahan’s Well stile
Objections received by Cork County Council have put the brakes on any changes to the stile to St Fanahan’s Well on Mulberry Road in Mitchelstown.
The stile was one of two projects that was removed from 2022’s Town Development Fund list. The project, to convert the existing stile entrance to wheelchair and mobility friendly access, was blocked by objections received.
Details on the number of objections received and their nature has been requested from Cork County Council.
However, there ‘may be an option through private property’, and explorations behind the scenes are being made by those concerned.
Cllr Kay Dawson expressed her disappointment, noting that at least one person who has requested the access be looked at is a wheelchair user and so, is immediately affected by the issue. However, that there is work behind the scenes, means there may yet be a happy ending.
