Ballaghaderg Bridge restored following collision
Repairs have been completed at Ballaghaderg Bridge outside of Mitchelstown, after a collision between a truck, a car and a lorry led to a breach of the stone wall last October.
The bridge, which is on the border between Limerick and Cork near Mitchelstown Golf Club, dates from c.1810.
Cllr Kay Dawson had called for the bridge to be looked in April of last year, and in October re-stated her belief that the bridge was no longer fit for purpose. County engineer Brendan O’Gorman said the upgrade project could be ‘resurrected’ and looked at again, but would need to be a joint project between both Limerick and Cork local authorities.
