Ard na Rí taken in charge with further development planned
The taking in charge of Ard na Rí housing estate in Castlelyons was recently welcomed by residents of the estate and locals in the area.
Ard na Rí housing estate, at Kill St Anne, Castlelyons saw the road at the estate declared a public road by the elected members of Fermoy Municipal District at a meeting held in late December last year, a Cork County Council spokesperson said.
“Consequently and pursuant to Section 180(4) of the Planning & Development Act, 2000 as amended, all attendant services with the development (roads, footpaths, open spaces, public lighting, sewers and watermain) are deemed to be taken in charge from that date,” the spokesperson added.
In 2013, the estate was adopted by NAMA following the property crash.
Unfinished units between houses one and thirty were completed and sold following the appointment of receivers Smith and Williamson.
The receivers have expressed their gratitude to councillor Frank O’Flynn for working with them and their representatives together with Cork County Council, working to get the estate taken in charge.
The undeveloped portion of the estate to the rear has achieved full planning permission for 23 high-quality semi-detached and detached units likely to be developed in the future.
According to local residents, this will be of great benefit to those with a housing need and also to the local GAA, National School, Community Council and local businesses in such a vibrant area close to Fermoy and the city.
