Upper Glanmire set for St Patrick’s Day parade
A community will come together once again this Thursday as the Upper Glanmire St Patrick’s Day parade festivities kick-off at 3pm.
Despite the parade not having been held in the past 2 years due to the Covid-19 restrictions, chairman of the Upper Glanmire Community Association, Jerry Burke, said that organising the parade this year did not involve much more than usual.
“It involved nothing more than usual, but finances were scarce. Usually, we leave it to the sub-committee which has people in the community association and people from the community,” Mr Burke said.
Fr Martin Barry, a native of Glanmire who also spent many years working in Africa, is the grand marshal for the 2022 Upper Glanmire parade.
The parade route will take the same route as in previous years, travelling past the community hall towards Ros Árd and back up again, with a start time of 3pm.
