A big thank you from Ballindangan
Ballindangan Community Council & the Parents Association of Ballindangan NS wish to thank everyone who donated all types of scrap metal for their recent fundraiser.
The idea of a scrap metal fundraiser had been suggested before Covid but with all the restrictions, the Community Council, together with the Parents Association decided to go ahead in January and they are delighted with the results.
Eamon Coughlan, chairperson of Ballindangan Community Council, expressed his thanks to all the people who donated scrap metal as part of the community’s fundraising initiative.
The Community Council had various costs over the past 2 years such as insurance, heating and general maintenance and had little income for most of this time. With donations ranging from pots and pans, to cars and vans to farm machinery, Eamon outlined that they really appreciated everything donated. Eamon explained that people went to great efforts to pull together their scrap metal and the Community Council are really thankful for same.
Annette Casey, of the Parents Association of Ballindangan NS, also thanked all those who donated to the collection. People from within and outside the area donated items and she said it really means so much that people were so generous with their time and scrap metal and were so willing to donate. Annette outlined that during the collection, people were so supportive of the community efforts and that the collection exceeded their expectations.
Eamon feels the scrap metal collection really showed the strength of the local community and the pride within the community for both the hall and the school. Eamon also thanked Eddie and staff at STR Scrap Metal for their support in the collection. The Avondhu was also thanked for their coverage of the fundraiser as it raised the profile of same.
Ballindangan is now looking to a bright future with activities starting again in the hall!
