Seachtain na Gaeilge in Presentation
Seachtain na Gaeilge began on Monday last week in Presentation Secondary School, Mitchelstown with numerous events taking place. All first years were treated to a movie ‘as gaeilge’ and some delicious grán rósta to enjoy while watching the movie.
On Tuesday, our school trad group played a variety of tunes during lunchtime. The entertainment was enjoyed by staff and students, and we are looking forward to the next trad session already! Our 6th Years enjoyed ‘Tae agus
Comhrá’, which was a fantastic opportunity for them to use their cúpla focal and practice for their upcoming Leaving Cert oral exams.
Throughout the week the teachers were actively involved in the annual ‘Comórtas na Múinteoirí’ competition and used Gaeilge in each of their classes. The students had the opportunity to decide the winner and Ms. Winnie Fitzgerald was crowned the winner for 2022!
The first and second years took part in a poster competition to highlight the reasons why they are proud of their language and their culture.
While Transition Year students took part in a Tóraíocht Taisce around the school. Our competitive students showed off their Gaeilge skills in this event. They were split into groups and were faced with several Gaeilge tasks and questions related to the school and the school staff, all answered within a time limit. There was a healthy competitive spirit throughout and the fun continues this week with a ‘ Poc Fada’ competition. Well done to all involved!
