Ballyporeen football jerseys worn proudly in Australia

Greg Cashel got in touch with our club recently inquiring about some club merchandise. Greg’s great grandfather Patrick (Denis) Cashel was a labourer in Templetenny before he left on the passenger ship Mathilda Atherling which arrived in Port Adelaide South Australia in 1864. Greg has been busy tracing his family tree and already he knows a lot about Ballyporeen with thanks from our hard working secretary Mag O’Donoghue. Greg was delighted to receive some Ballyporeen football jerseys in the post recently which he and his children are proud to wear as they will be following our team from now on. Kind regards to you and your family Greg from all here in the Ballyporeen football club.

Conor Sweeney once again played a big role in Tipperary’s victory away to Cavan last Sunday in the national football league. Tipperary won on a score line of 1-11 to 1-7 and Conor accounted for 1-4 of Tipp’s total. This was a very important win as it puts promotion firmly in Tipp’s own hands now with two games remaining.

Wins against Carlow and London would see Tipperary promoted to division three. Up first is Carlow this weekend, as part of a double header in Thurles with the hurlers playing Antrim before the football game. Here’s hoping they will get good support and we wish Conor and Tipp the very best of luck.

LOTTO

Numbers drawn were 7,16, 20, 26. No winner, match three winners were Michael and Evie Kearney, Seanie Crotty, Donal Bailey, Fionnan Hickey. Next draw is on Sunday, March 27th in O’Casey’s bar. Jackpot €5,550. Thanks again for your continued support.
