ATROCIOUS Lakewood Ath 1 Park Utd Seniors 0

The heading above sums up our performance and the weather in last Saturday’s Senior Cup game played on Lakewood’s fantastic all weather pitch. As a matter of fact the game probably shouldn’t have gone ahead. The surface was fine but the wind and torrential rain probably should have led to it being called off in the interest of safety.

Anyway it went ahead and conditions were the same for both teams and it ended up being a dismal display by Park overall. It was one of those games you just want to put behind you and move on. There were some positives from the second half though with Jimmy Sheehan and Mick Barrett almost grabbing an equaliser. We now know we have 5 league games left in our season and will be looking for 2 wins at least out of the 5 to maintain our 1st div status.

Team: P Masterson, O’Brien, O’Sullivan, Barrett, McGrath, S Masterson, Murphy-Green, Sheehan, Reidy-Price, Murphy, McCarthy. Subs used: Hanrahan, Considine, Bane.

QUARTER FINAL

Our youths drew the winners of Peakvilla (Thurles) or Villa FC (Waterford) in the quarter finals of the Munster Youth Cup. No date has been confirmed yet on this fixture.

GROUND DEVELOPMENT

Since the announcement of our grant from sports capital funding, our phase one ground development has gathered pace. At the time of writing the 3 contractors we identified will have submitted their quotes based on tenders they would have received. Once we decide on a contractor and get contracts signed, we are hopeful of a start date on the project in late May or early June which would see us have this much needed facility up and running by mid-August.

We are borrowing a considerable amount and will be launching some fundraising ideas in the coming months. This development will be a huge asset to us as a club but also to the wider community and schools.

WEEKLY LOTTO

Our weekly lotto draw took place in Walsh’s Bar on Monday night last. The numbers drawn were 8, 14, 16 and 19 which yielded no winner. We thank you for your continued support. See lotto results elsewhere in this paper. Tickets are available from usual outlets or from our door to door seller John Ryan.
