Great start for our juniors

-

On Thursday night last our junior footballers continued their good start to their league campaign with a 1-11 to 11pts win over Midleton in Fouhy Park. A great turn out of players (24) gave the selectors a tough start to the night but all 24 played and put in a huge effort.

Glenville started excellently and were 1-2 to no score after 10 mins, a great goal coming from Kyle Cronin. Midleton fought back and reduced the deficit to a point but further scores from Conor Gowen and Andrew Desmond left the score 1-5 to 5 pts at the break. Glenville continued to play some great football after the break and even when things weren’t going their way showed great resilience and composure to stay ahead, led by our captain Ciaran O’Leary. Final score Glenville 1-11 Midleton 11pts.

Team was Niall O’Sullivan, Dylan Power, Pearse Maloney, Shane Dorgan, Donal Sheehan, Joe Riordan, Andrew Desmond, Denis Buttimer, Ciaran O’Leary, Ryan Murray, Seamie Curtain, Conor Gowen, Mark Riordan and Kyle Cronin. Subs all used: Paudie Cotter, Eamon Counihan, Paudie Cahill, Noel Cahill, Ian O’Leary, Daniel Carlow, Gearoid White, Liam Keane and Stephen Coffey.

DAD AND LADS

Dads and Lads is a social football and hurling programme for those keen to enjoy Gaelic games outside the traditional competitive structures of the GAA. The philosophy of GAA for Dads and Lads is all about participation and the camaraderie that only team sports can offer. The small-sided adapted games allow for incidental contact only (to minimise any risk of injury) so skills are to the fore over physicality. The games are self-governed – no referees. We recently started a Dads and Lads football and hurling group in Glenville and it has proved a great success so far, with numbers increasing every night. It’s open to all and no previous experience of playing football is required.
