ST PATRICK’S DAY MASSES IN OUR PARISH

Vigil Mass for St Patrick’s Day will be held in Duhill Church this Wednesday evening, March 16th at 7.30pm. St Patrick’s Day Mass will be held in Ballylooby Church at 10.30am.

DUHILL COMMUNITY CENTRE DAFFODIL DAY

Daffodil Day tea/coffee morning is back in Duhill Hall on Friday, March 18th from 10am to 1pm. Tickets are currently on sale for valuable prizes. Always a successful morning!

BALLYLOOBY COMMUNITY CENTRE ST PATRICK’S DAY PARADE

Our first parade takes place this Friday, March 18th at 12 noon. It will be led by the CJ Kickham Pipe Band and the man himself will be in attendance. We will have ceol caint agus craic in the village between 12 and 3, so do get your costume ready and come and join us on the day.

We are also running a Limerick writing competitio­n with a first prize of €50 available to the winner, so why not get those creative juices going. Complete the Limerick “There is a shamrock ......” You can send your entries to ballylooby­pr@gmail.com with your name and contact details. UPCOMING EVENT - CLIMB WITH CHARLIE

Ballylooby community council are organising a gentle climb (well more a slight incline) on the Galtees on April 2nd in support of ‘Climb With Charlie’ - if you would like to join us you can register with our co-ordinator Margaret on 0876254333. This climb is suitable for all ages and all abilities. We look forward to it.

LITTER PICKING

We have been busy collecting litter in the community and we would like to thank all who have helped so far. Pat, Margaret, Breda, Oisin, Richard and others. We have signed up to the national clean-up taking part in April, but we would appeal to people from the community and passing through Ballylooby to please take your rubbish home or put it in the bins in the village.

COMMEMORAT­ION OF VOLUNTEERS

The commemorat­ion of the first march of Sean Hogan’s Flying Column and the Volunteers of the local active service units from the Ballylooby, Duhill and surroundin­g areas is on Saturday, 19th March at 2pm (eircode E21Y308). We will assemble at Killinure and march in their footsteps to Crannavone to unveil a plaque to the memory of the Column’s first march. Main speakers are John Connors and Dr. Tim Horgan.

This event is non political. All welcome. Commemorat­ion booklet on sale on the day.

SYMPATHY

Sympathy to Michael Morrissey and family on the death of his wife Angela (nee Cooke), Mount Anglesby. Angela was laid to rest in Shanrahan Cemetery after her requiem Mass in St Mary’s, Clogheen on Saturday, March 12th. May she rest in peace.
