Lyrenacarriga Wind Farm 'hanging over our heads' as ABP yet to issue decision
Seeking an update as regards the status of the proposed Lyrenacarriga Wind Farm development, local councillor James Tobin said the decision is one that is ‘hanging over our heads’.
Lodged with An Bord Pleanála (ABP) in January of 2021 by Curns Energy, the West Waterford and East Cork proposed windfarm has seen repeatedly delayed decision dates, with a current due date on the decision standing at April 29.
“It’s hanging over our heads now with an awfully long time and An Bord Pleanala seem to be very slow to make their decision,” Cllr Tobin said.
According to the councillor, the proposed area is not suitable for a wind farm development, and he asked whether the council had received any contact from An Bord Pleanála regarding the proposed development.
Aisling O’Sullivan of Waterford City and County Council’s planning department responded to the councillor stating that she was not aware of any such correspondence but confirmed that as soon as the planning department hear from them, they would relay the information to councillors.
