- MARIAN ROCHE

Hinchy’s Garage in Garryspillane, Co. Limerick have scooped the county-wide award for its commitment to promotion and sales of electric vehicles. The local car dealership was recognised for their part in the transition to ‘clean and efficient transport’ in the SEAI Electric Vehicle

Dealership Awards.

Jim Hinchy, Managing Director at the company, said they were delighted to win the award, pointing to their sales’ team’s knowledge as a key factor in their success.

“As EV specialists for Kia, Opel and Suzuki we aspire to deliver a high level of knowledge and sales experience for our valued customers when purchasing an electric vehicle. Our specialist sales team can provide full guidance to EV purchasers on SEAI grant applications, home charger installations, EV Toll Road incentive scheme and all other queries in relation to the most suitable EV for their needs. We can also advise company buyers of the advantages of switching their fleet to Electric power.”

The awards were announced by the SEAI (Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland) earlier this week, in order to ‘recognise and award those dealerships who are working to increase consumers’ understanding and experience of EVs and their uptake on Irish roads.’

There were 116 applications across 25 counties, and one business awarded per county. Car dealers competed through a mystery shopping exercise where they were scored on a number of factors, including how visible EVs were in the showroom, how knowledgeable their salespeople were on EVs, and their sales approach. Other evaluation areas included EV training, sales trends and the dealership’s website.

The sales team at Hinchy's who will steer you in the right direction, consist of Declan Sexton, Paul Hinchy, Karol Drea, Henry Leahy, Donal O’Brien and Jim Hinchy.

The winners announced this week are now on the shortlist for the national award which will be revealed at this year’s SEAI Energy Show taking place in the RDS, Dublin at the end of March.
