Weather challenges start of season

-

On Saturday 12th our season started again. We all headed to the Gold Coast under the watchful eye of our captain for the coming year, Jason O’Dwyer.

The day started out with the day being dry but in the early afternoon it changed for the worse with gale force winds and heavy rain. It made golfing extremely difficult, but fair play to everyone that finished out the day.

I think everyone deserved a prize for finishing, as in all my years playing I never witnessed weather like it.

After all the cards were counted by Dermot, Jim, Vincent and Jason, the results were as follows - 1st Richie Carey, 2nd Dermot Leamy, 3rd Vincent Fahy, Cat 1 winner Brian Cashman, Cat 2 winner Pat Houlihane, front 9 Ray O’Driscoll, back 9 Paul O’Dwyer, nearest to pin Noel Cashman.

Jason thanked everyone who turned up on the day; the staff in the hotel for looking after us so well and the course staff for having the course in such good condition.

He said he is looking forward to his year ahead and looked forward to seeing us all in Newcastlewest Golf Club on 16th April.
