GAIN mares final, the highlight of Ballynoe Point-to-Points

The 'ladies' take pride of place in Garryanne this Sunday, when the country's best mares compete in the prestigiou­s GAIN Mares Final in Ballynoe - this race is timed for 3.30pm.

GAIN EQUINE NUTRITION

GAIN Equine Nutrition are delighted to continue their sponsorshi­p of the mares final. They have been excellent corporate sponsors and great supporters of point-to-points. According to company spokespers­on, Joanne Hurley, it's been a productive and rewarding relationsh­ip.

"This is a sponsorshi­p that's worked very well; owners, trainers and jockeys place huge emphasis on the GAIN series and everyone really looks forward to the showpiece in Ballynoe," she said.

ACTION GETS UNDERWAY AT 2PM SHARP

2pm: Everything is in readiness for Sunday's races with proceeding­s getting underway at 2pm with the Goffs UK sponsored maiden race for 4-year-olds.

2.30pm: The second race on the card is a maiden race for 5-year-old geldings. It's sponsored by Tattersall­s Ireland and Anthony & Associates Agri Consultant­s.

3pm: 3 firms have come together to sponsor this maiden race for 5-year-olds and upwards (mares). The businesses concerned are Coolmore, Liam Geary Garage and Mr. Softee.

3.30pm: The 'big one', the GAIN Mares Final, gets underway at 3.30pm. Hugely competitiv­e, this race contains a €3,000 bonus for the winner. GAIN, who specialise in equine nutrition, are long time sponsors of this much anticipate­d contest.

4pm: The open lightweigh­t goes off at 4pm. The associated sponsors are: Winner's Enclosure, Conna; Coolagown Stud & Dermot O'Leary Agri.

4.30pm: The sixth and final race of the afternoon is a maiden race for 6-year-olds and upwards geldings. It is generously sponsored by Rathbarry Stud and Lagan Concrete.

DOG SHOW

The Dog Show will take place at 2.30pm. Dogs (on a lead) are more than welcome and there will be prizes for pets who catch the judge’s eye. Prizes for different classes (small, medium and large). Rosettes and dog food as prizes, sponsored by GAIN feeds.

BE PART OF A GREAT DAY OUT

With a good weekend forecast in store, conditions should be absolutely ideal for Sunday's pointto-points in Ballynoe. Once again, a hardworkin­g committee have put in a massive effort to ensure everything is spot on for the big occasion. As well as being a great sporting occasion, there's a strong social aspect to the day and no doubt you will run into someone you know.

Ballynoe is a wonderful course to view racing and there will be ample and secure car parking. So, if you have a couple of hours to spare on Sunday next, make a date with Ballynoe Point-to-Points, where the big race of the afternoon is the GAIN Mares Final.
