A fantastic night of fashion in Araglin

- JOHN AHERN

It was standing room only in Araglin Hall last Friday night for a spectacularly successful show in aid of Fermoy Sub Aqua Club, which incorporates Blackwater Search & Rescue Unit.

Speaking at the sell out event, sub aqua representative, Maurice Carroll, said it was a night that would live long in the memory.

“Those behind tonight’s show deserve the highest of praise, they worked unbelievably hard and it’s brilliant to see this magnificent hall full tonight. Those lucky enough to have got tickets have been brilliantly entertained, it was a super show, with everyone playing a part,” he said.

DENIS GETS THE GIG

Local Garda and prominent GAA referee, Denis Motherway, beat off stiff competition to land the job of master of ceremonies. His relaxed and informal style added greatly to the occasion.

Volunteeer models from local clubs were recruited. They all looked superb and presented clothes in an ultra professional manner.

METRE HIGH CLUB GO TO GREAT LENGTHS

This in- demand group provided the interval act, one or two felt it was a little raunchy and shouldn’t have taken place during Lent, however, the boys were determined to give value for money and made no apologies for their skin tight jeans and gyrating hips. Due to international commitments, not all of ‘The Metre High Club’ were able to attend. The entire troupe, including part-timers, includes: Peter O’Loughlin, Nelius Kearney, Moss Reidy, Jim Kenneally, Seamie O’Gorman, John F. Kenneally, Cian O’Meara and Mike Donnellan.

SUPPORT FROM LOCAL BUSINESSES

Businesses who provided clothes for the fashion show included Suzsa, Corali Boutique, The Doll’s House, Su-Man, Today’s Man, Hats by Ger Hennessy, Hickey’s of Fermoy, Vanilla, Cummins Sports and Hats by Maria Stack.

Due to unforeseen circumstances, The Wardrobe were unable to attend, however, they very generously sponsored the ‘Best Dressed

Man & Woman’ prizes.

RAFFLE PRIZE SPONSORS

An array of valuable raffle prizes were given away on the night. Sponsors were: Flannery’s Hotel, Karma, Hickey’s of Fermoy, Lyons’ Pharmacy, Mellerick’s Pharmacy, O’Reilly’s Pharmacy, Sam McCauley Pharmacy, Corali Boutique, Carmel’s Garden Centre, Kilworth; Toss Byran’s, Corbett Court, Diva Accessories, Carla Walsh Jewellers, Doody’s Pharmacy, Sean O’Doherty, Araglin; The Firgrove Hotel, The Clongibbon Hotel, Co-Op Superstores, The Hunter’s Rest and Kaala22, Fermoy.
