Gardaí investigating alleged assault in Cappoquin

Gardaí in Dungarvan are investigating the alleged assault in Cappoquin of a female involving a group of youths in the West Waterford town on St Patrick’s According to a Garda spokesperson, the female, who is aged in her midteens, received medical treatment following the incident for non-life threatening injuries.

It is understood that videos and a photograph of the incident were circulated and emerged online.

“Gardaí at Dungarvan have commenced an investigation following the alleged assault of a female in the course of an incident involving a group of youths in the Cappoquin area of Co Waterford, on the 17th of March, 2022.

“Investigating Gardaí are following a definite line of enquiry into the matter. As the incident involved young persons, we will not be commenting further at this time,” the spokesperson said.
