Climb With Charlie in Kilbehenny

- MARIAN ROCHE

With one eye on the clouds, a group in Kilbehenny are looking forward to welcoming walkers to join them on their ascent of Galtymore this Saturday. Registration opens in Kilbehenny Community Centre at 8.30am where parties will be given directions to King’s Yard carpark. The carpark is €3 and stewards will be on hand to guide motorists to the Galtee Wood carpark if necessary.

Registration is essential to keep a record of who went up, and more importantly, that they got back down safely. Tea and refreshments will also be supplied to walkers after their return.

One of the organisers, Carmel O’Gorman, has a list of essential equipment for those joining the walk: a fully charged phone with location setting turned on, hillwalking boots with ankle supports, warm clothing including a windbreaker, a hat and gloves, an energy bar and water.

In case of inclement weather, an alternative walk is planned in the Galtee Castle Woods.
