Basic Payment Scheme clinic date for Michelstown

- MARIAN ROCHE

The next Basic Payment Scheme (BPS) clinic for Mitchelstown will be held on Thursday, 14th April. Farmers are invited to attend the clinic between 9.30am and 3pm in The Firgrove Hotel. Alternatively, clinics will be held in Limerick city in the Maldron Hotel, Roxboro on Thursday, 13th April or the Castle Hotel in Macroom on

4th May.

The clinic will assist farmers in making their Basic Payment Scheme applications online, as well as other related schemes. The closing date for the BPS application is May 16th.

Minister for Agriculture Charlie McConalogue announced the return of the in-person clinics, saying that they have proved a popular resource in the past.

“Some 24,000 farmers have already lodged their applications since the online facility opened in February 2022. I would urge all farmers to submit their BPS application at the earliest possible opportunity before the May 16th, 2022 deadline. If farmers have already submitted their BPS application for this year and they now want to take on additional land or change the crop type, they can log back in to agfood.ie to make any amendments, but they must make sure they do so before the deadline of May 16th, 2022.”

Should farmers wish to contact the Department in relation to online applications, for example queries on lost passwords or how to register, they can do so at 049 4368288. Other queries, once registered online, can be directed to 057 86 74422. You can also request a paper copy of the terms and conditions from 057 86 74422, or by dropping into the department offices in Portlaoise.
