MBA set to pull some weeds
“Pull out the weeds, or make peace with the dandelions.” Such concillatory words don’t wash with the Mitchelstown Business Association however, as they enter battle-mode against the interloping plants over the next few days.
The association are asking all businesses to weed outside of their premises on this coming Friday, Monday or Tuesday, or whatever day suits the business owner best, and are asking people to take care the footpath outside any empty business premises nearby also. They recommend pulling them up or using boiling water, preventing use of nasty pesticides where possible. Adding salt to the boiling water is an effective and cheap method, but may take several applications, especially on more ‘determined’ plants, like thistles.
WEDNESDAY CLEAN-UP
Next Wednesday evening at 6pm is the ‘Square Clean-up’ organised by Mitchelstown Community Council, where plastic gloves and litter pickers will be provided. A skip will be available to dispose of any litter collected on the evening, but volunteers are asked to bring their own brush and shovel. See you there!
